On the first anniversary of the tragedy that took place at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue, the Clarion Quartet will perform a selection of mid-twentieth century chamber music written by suppressed composers. Following the concert, Manfred Honeck, Music Director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and writer Adam Ehrlich Sachs will discuss culture and its role in achieving peace, as well as the impact of music and literature on an engaged international community in a conversation moderated by Academy alumnus Harry Liebersohn.
